Finding A Home in Homer

Of course I should be in bed at least 30 minutes ago but there is something satisfying about being the only person awake in a home filled with so many people.

I need to share photos and I want to share but right now, I just wanted to comment on something swirling around my brain for the past couple of days:

1) What is a HOME? Countless songs, poems, stories and desires of individuals all collide around the singular thought of home. Is home "where the heart is?" Is home an actual physical place that exists where our parents or caregivers reside? How do you know if you're home? Well, through a series of unfortunate events, I've began a quest of finding "my home." A tender mercy that the Lord has granted me would have to be my summer plans of living in Alaska! Wowie oh wow! God is good. Another place that I always feel at home is within the temple. Like I said, God is good.

I'm grateful for homes and I'm especially grateful that God wants us to each seek to find our "homes" so that we can better recognize that feeling for when He takes us back to our original home.

One more time: God is good.

e·piph·a·ny

There are so many things that I could repeat on a daily basis but the only thing that I want to say today is this:

  • Literally, the ONLY way to have absolute JOY is through Jesus Christ
  • The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is true.
  • Do not take counsel from your FEARS.

Thanks for listening to my epiphany!

Change.

I love my friends.
My mom always tells me the story of my baby blessing.
Apparently, it was said that friends would be number one priority for me.
Silly, but so true.
I don't know what I would do without all my FANTASTIC friends.
Change is inevitable but it can still be a tad difficult.
Netty Nutster is on her mission and doing great things.
Mykakaka is planning her wedding and I'm SO excited for her.
Isn't it weird-ish?
All this change.
But something I always know...
God is in charge and
LIFE IS GREAT.

These People I Know.

There are a lot of people in this world
but thankfully, God gave me my friends.
I have no idea where I would be without my mexican soul sister.
we've had a few good times, I guess.
My mentoring group is my soul support at college.
I'd probably be headed for a math degree or ever worse, without them.
MY DEAREST KAKA got engaged.
To her best friend and lover.
Ahhh how happy I am for her.
Oh Little Black Foot.
Oh Netty Nut.
No words could ever fully express my appreciation for you in my life.

Re-Record.

There is something inside each of us, calling us by name.
It's a voice that wants to be heard.
Some say it's a conscience, while others refer to it as our inner person or child.

I think this voice inside my head is an opera singer. And a loud one.
Everything I do or say seems to have consequences that I can never forget.
Constantly, the screeching voice is reminding me of my past mistakes.

What an annoying way to live.
So I have decided to sing over the noise and to re-record.
But this time, it's a smooth, silky, deep man voice.

He's singing to me that it's going to be alright.
That it is not the end.
This time around, my voice is strong and only positive.

This re-recorded voice is calming.
Is peaceful.
Is wonderful.

I think it's time to play this new tune. And never, ever stop.

Update On Life

There has been soooo much going on.
This is my fabulous, wonderful and fantastic mentor group.
I honestly have no idea where I would be without them.
Also, ^ is HILARIOUS.
This is my BFFFFFFFFF Shreya.
And yes, we can do the double downward dog together in yoga class.
These sweetie pies are why I keep going.
Life is so, so good.

Poetry?

"an attempt":

through years of memories
we jump through the hoops
constantly wondering if we're on the same track
the road divides
we walk alone
this time, only thoughts are on our sides

"come. back. to. me."
that is all I ask.
fly home to my home once more
lets pick up where the pieces fell
and forget the dark and sleepless nights
lets rewrite what was written
so that midnight can roam free
again.

i wash my face with the coldest ice.
wishing i had warmth
tears start to fall
but i slap them away, not tonight
not at all

this is an attempt to convey
to express with deep regret
that if i had to do it all over again,

nothing would be changed.

Future Me

Dear Future Me,
Well, we did it.
Here I am at college and about to start classes in a week.
At this very second, I'm sooo grateful for many things in my life.
-bright room
-K&B helping me get down here
-parentals helping with literally everything
-my sisters
-ice cream
-disney channel (for the laughs)
-this free time to reflect & ponder
-music
-memories & relationships
Also, I keep seeing this photo everywhere.
And I relate.

Two Cats Walk Around The Block...

"We call that person who has lost his father, an orphan; and a widower that man who has lost his wife. But that man who has known the immense unhappiness of losing a friend, by what name do we call him? Here every language is silent and holds its peace in impotence."
-Joseph Roux
"When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives means the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand."
-Henri Nouwen

"Nothing but heaven itself is better than a friend who is really a friend."
-Plautus
"In everyone's life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit."
-Albert Schweitzer

New Perspective

I'll be the first to admit that I get stuck in ruts,
times where nothing goes right.
And then there are times when someone will say something,
you'll hear something,
you'll see something.
And your perspective will entirely change.
I am grateful for the gospel in my life,
I am blessed.

Netty Net-Face

Tomorrow is this girls 20th birthday.
(mini freak-out!)
Where has time gone?!
I love her laugh.
I love her happy demeanor.
I love her facial expressions.
I love how she can do anything she puts her mind to.
I love that she understands me in a way that no one else can.
I love that she always brightens my day and can make me laugh.
(pig tied to a tire...)
I love her beautiful face and GREAT personality.
I love the adventures we go on.
I love how she is genuine and herself in any circumstance.
I love how thoughtful she is of others.
I love how loyal she is.
I love how much she cares for her family and friends.
(aka me.)
I love how she is such a positive, uplifting spirit that God sent to this earth.
I love her.

Happy Birthday To My Best Friend

The best years are yet to come!

Overload

Psychically, I'm not that overloaded.
Not even mentally or spiritually.
BUT emotionally.... I'm lacking a tad.
It's hard to drag yourself out of bed at 5:30am to get ready for work.
It's hard to feel soo lost in a world of craziness.

But some great things that help me stay semi-normal:
Hanging out with my "bestie"

Laughing and spending time with Mykaka

Being with my family... oh and Webby

Joking around with my roommates.
Hilarious.
I hope everyone is having a GREAT Monday!

Being A Grown-Up

Some days are harder than others.
Some days are good.

My Favorite Things About Being an Adult:
1) Can do whatever
2) You feel a tad more mature
3) Dont have to ask permission
4) Everything is up to you
5) Eat whatever, whenever

Dislikes of Being an Adult:
1) Bills.
2) Work.
3) You don't have summer off
4) You spend a lot of time alone.

So what do you think? Ready to be an adult and have the weight of the world on your shoulders?

Precious and Sweet

It takes a long time to grow an old friend.
This topic is really personal to me because I have always relied on my friends for support and confidence. But my senior year of high school, I had no close friends. I realized the benefits of having a close friend and partner in crime. Another thing I realized is that time changes you.
People move on.
Things change.
Love can fade.
Best friends can become sweet memories of the past.
Appreciate the moments!! You never know when they will be swept away from you.
Hold a true friend with both hands.
And hang on tight.

"But friendship is precious, not only in the shade, but in the sunshine of life, and thanks to a benevolent arrangement the greater part of life is sunshine."
